How can Vanchem Performance Chemicals help you reduce phosphate sludge?
Our line of low temperature products reduces the amount of phosphate sludge created in iron and zinc phosphating metals, which leads to increased productivity and cost savings for your company.
Phosphate sludge is an undesirable waste by-product in an iron and zinc phosphate process. When processing with either iron or zinc phosphate, the chemical reaction produces an insoluble precipitant that is known as phosphate sludge. If ignored, phosphate sludge will accumulate and reduce chemical efficiency and plug-up risers and nozzles in your washer. Phosphate sludge must be periodically discarded or continually removed via filter press or decanting and suck truck. Phosphate sludge has no other real useful purpose. When phosphate sludge accumulates in your system the reduction in chemical efficiency and time-consuming maintenance can become very costly.
Vanchem Performance Chemicals offers a line of low-temperature products that helps you save time and money by minimizing the by-product of phosphate sludge. By minimizing sludge production, you reduce the cost of waste disposal – an environmentally friendly practice, which reduces the amount of waste that must go to landfill.
Three popular iron phosphate products offered by Vanchem Performance Chemicals include FOSTEX JS, FOSTEX JMF, and FOSTEX JM. These products are formulated to simultaneously clean and iron phosphate steel at low temperatures. Low temperatures reduce the formation of phosphate sludge. FOSTEX JM has been specifically formulated to generate high coating weights at low temperatures (although it can still be used at temperatures of up to 150 F).
Vanchem’s FOSTEX ZN is our low temperature zinc phosphate product that can operate at 110-120 F. Even at 110 F, FOSTEX ZN can produce coating weights between 200-300 mg/ft2 while minimize sludge formation compared to competitive products.
Benefits include substantial cost savings and higher coating weights at lower temperatures. The reduced scaling and phosphate formation because of lower temperatures also results in less maintenance. Less maintenance translates in to decreased downtime. Using Vanchem products that reduce phosphate sludge will generate higher production yields and a more efficient operation.
Our new GREENCOAT RF is an organic based reactive film that replaces traditional iron phosphate. It contains no heavy metals, operates at ambient temperature, and produces no phosphate sludge with no phosphates to waste treat.
Make sure that you consider Vanchem Performance Chemicals the next time you are looking for a convenient and efficient solution to your phosphate sludge problems. For more information, contact us at our corporate headquarters in Burlington, Ontario.
