Cleaning is always the first step in metal finishing. The objective is to remove all shop soils, lubricants such as stamping compounds, mill oils, and drawing lubes. Vanchem has a full line of metal finishing cleaners for hot and cold rolled steel, galvanized steel and its many variants, including aluminum and its alloys. Cleaners include mild alkaline, medium alkaline, and caustic based cleaners. Vanchem has a line of metal finishing specialty cleaners for vibratory and ultrasonic cleaning. We produce zinc phosphate and iron phosphate metal finishing solutions. Zinc phosphate deposits a coating on steel, galvanized or aluminum alloy surfaces that provide maximum corrosion protection, most suitable for application in the automotive and military sector or where high level field performance is required. We have a variety of iron phosphate products, cleaner-coaters, straight iron phosphates, fluoride enhanced iron phosphates, and manual rub on iron phosphates for quick on-line repair. Iron phosphating has become the most popular metal finishing system to prepare metal for paint in industry because of cost and maintenance. Our FOSTEX 11 is used by many customers and is capable of producing 1000 hrs salt-spray performance. We have recently launched a new organic reactive film technology formulated to replace iron phosphate. The product is called GREENCOAT RF. These types of products will be the future, low temperature, non-phosphate, low sludging, and non-heavy metal. The challenge for the chemical industry and companies like Vanchem will be to meet customer expected field performance, new economic cost constraints, and the anticipated new wave of green environmental technologies.

Vanchem also has a line of metal finishing non-chrome sealer technologies. This includes both inorganic and organic products such as our RINSEAL 7 and RINSEAL 9, respectively.
